Although Remede clearly had short legs-- she stood no taller than 5'4", her strides were lithe and graceful, able to manipulate her body through the crowd with relative ease. She was about to respond to Ryuu's assumption about her being an adventurer but decided to keep her mouth shut. There was always the risk of giving out too much information, and there was no way she could take the chance. Instead, she smiled at him, giving Ryuu and sideways glance. He was right on one account-- it wasn't normal for her to leave a bar after such a minor happening. "Perhaps you should become a detective. It would suit you better than being a bodyguard." Particularly because I'm not convinced, she mentally noted.
Besides, who wants to travel alone? he asked, continuing his ranting advertisement. Remede stopped for a moment, making the townsfolk have to walk around her to get through. Her piercing emerald eyes held his gaze for a few seconds. "I do." Without bothing to notice his reaction, she turned on her heels and continued along her way. I wonder what it's going to take to get rid of his guy. He seems pretty persistant... there's no way I can trust him either.

"Ergh... can't believe it. Of all the things he could be having me do, I got stuck grocery shopping. What do I look like, his maid?"
Terix was force-marching down the street, stomping with psionically-amplified force. (Yes, he's throwing a tantrum.) On his back he carried a massive brown cloth bag, which kept randomly glowing... and slowly filling itself up. Odd.
"Now then, eggs..." A nearby grocer's stand became a little lighter as a dozen eggs materialized in the sack.
"Cheese..." Two wheels of cheese ceased occupying the rack over a farmer's head.
"Bread..." Four baguettes and a large loaf of bread dematerialized off a baker's cart; unbalanced, it quickly toppled over. Terix laughed softly to himself.
"This might not be too bad, actually... lessee what else I can scalp." Wine bottles, watermelons, oranges, an afghan blanket; all sorts of random things began to spontaneously unexist, only to reappear in a brown burlap sack on Terix' back. As the grocery list ran out of items, Terix cast his eye about for something interesting to gank.
His eyes finally fell on a pretty young thing fondling a ruby ring in her pocket. He noticed only the ring. "If nothing else, Cyri'd love another gift to give his Beloved Snooky-Ookums..." Terix muttered, with mild disgust; that didn't stop him from reaching out psionically and siezing the ring. In response, the ring began to vibrate softly, then slip itself out of Remede's grasp and levitate its way out of her pocket.

"C'mon on, miss, I gotta work, too, y'know!" Ryuu protested, continuing to follow her. "I know, you probably want me to leave you alone. But, I'm pretty outta money at the moment, so I really, really need anything I can get!" A glimmer caused him to look down. "Um... by the way," he pointed, "your ring is floating away."

Remede turned around, now thoroughly agitated with the tail-gating man. She stabbed him in the chest with her index finger and said, "Look here, Mr. Ryuu Masken! I realize you probably need money but I'm not a good source. I'm busy and I really can't afford to have someone on my tail! I have little I can spare for a bodyguard at the moment anyway." She sighed, rolling her eyes. "Go find someone else who does have gold and go pester him instead!"
Before she could turn around to stomp off, Ryuu said something else which caught her attention. "What..?" Her eyebrows narrowed in complete surprise. Looks like we've got a psychic thief on our hands. She was stuck-- what should she do? If she made an uproar, she risked the chance of diverting too much attention to herself and getting caught... but if she did nothing, she was basically allowing thievery. She pursed her lips in mid-thought and simply reached out absently so she didn't look too suspicious, grabbing the ring. If she did it correctly, it would lead her to the source of thievery.

Blast... Terix swore mentally, not about to give up the challenge yet. Not by a long shot. You haven't won yet, lady...
An evil smile twisted his lips as an idea came to him. That's the ticket... Softly, almost absently, he began to twirl a finger in the air. As his fingertip spun, so did the ring. Slow at first but gaining speed, the ring began to gyrate in multiple directions, spinning and twisting erratically within her hand. Let's see how long she can hold onto that...

Remede laced the ring onto her middle finger and closed her fist. It wasn't a very good fit but she managed it. She realized that the ring had begun to spin. Said psychic had discovered her tactic and was now trying to win the battle. Screw this, she thought. I might get caught... perhaps if I hold on for just a few seconds, I can find the psychic some where... Bah, that'd never not attract attention! Admitting defeat for just a few moments, she let the ring slip off of her finger. Her mind jogged for some way to get the ring back. She didn't particuarly want the ring-- after all, she found it. It wasn't rightfully hers.
But... she had an idea. She looked at the ring once more as it zipped off in whichever direction the psychic wanted it to. With a light pat to Ryuu's shoulder and a devious smile, she said, "You're hired, go fetch!"

"Huh, wha--?" Ryuu blinked. "I am?! Alright! I'll get that ring back for you, then!" With an excited smirk on his face, Ryuu chased after the ring, making sure not to lose eye contact with it.

Terix caught his new prize with a satisfied smirk, admiring it for a second before dematerializing it into the bag. His smirk only grew as Ryuu charged through the crowd in his direction.
Oh boy... fun time. The psion stood nonchalantly, gazing in Ryuu's direction with his head to one side and a satisfied grin on his face. He quickly rematerialized the ring in his hand, just enough to expose it to sight. Let the little warrior make the first move. I could use some fun.

"Hey, you!" Ryuu called out. "Kid who makes rings float! That belongs to someone else!" He strode up to the boy who was grinning raher oddly and crossed his arms. "If ya' give it back nicely, I won't trouble you further, 'kay?" He said in a childish voice, with a cat-like grin spreading across his face.

((*Condenses as much as possible into a single post so that I don't have to post for a while*
Stop typing so dang fast! I wrote this and revised it twice, and in that time you jumped a page, and I look out of place Dx))
Back on the home front...
- Aleu and Silver -
The first shaft of rock burst through the floor of the foyer, catching Aleu by surprise. Luckily, it was away from herself and Silver; Aleu wasted about half a second in shock before grabbing Silver by the hand. She flung the door open, sprinting outside with Silver in tow. Letting go of the other girl, Aleu drew her sword with her other hand, starting to begin a step-draw slash but stopped when she saw the wall of stone that faced her. Aleu paused, blade going lax, trying to figure out what to do.
A high-pitched whine burst from Kapu's direction, making both Aleu and Silver yelp and clap their hands over their ears, eyes squeezed shut in pain. It sounded as if their ears were ringing, except magnified exponentially. Wincing from the noise, Aleu cracked open an eyelid.
"Whoa..." Shattered stones and a goodly amount of dust littered the yard. Kapu was squaring off against something that looked big, stony, and most decidedly not nice. In front of him was Harmony, spinning like she'd never seen it whirl before. The whole thing solidified, and the high whine died away.
"Hold on, Kapu. I'm coming!" He whirled at her words, his expression stricken.
- Kapu -
The splintering sounds of wood and rock were all Kapu needed to know that his home was gone, or at least a decent part of it. So. This was what he got for making a kind gesture and giving the group a place to stay. This is what he got for feeding them, giving them beds and the only place he really had to call his own.
Kapu remembered clearly saying that he would dispatch Krovon, but Kriven didn't give him a chance, now did he. And now that Kriven was big 'n scary, Ari, that angel, and Cyrus had to just hop on in, didn't they.
Why wouldn't anyone ever take him for more than a joke? Why couldn't anyone realize that, maybe, just maybe, he could handle something on his own, and he didn't need your freaking help.
Why was it always him that had to put up with being shoved aside, or being pushed out of his place? He'd put up with the teasing grins, the comic relief, the ear-tweaking and the head-bopping long enough. He was through with cute, sullen "ows" when someone yanked his tail while he was sleeping.
He was done being screwed with.
"Back off." Whirr flashed and opened to her full size, sending a whirling burst of air at Ari and her friend. It wasn't a particularly strong burst, it probably wouldn't even knock them off their feet. But it would get them away, and that was all he needed.
"You too." Carrying the swing full-circle, Kapu sent a stronger blast at Cyrus. Again, it was nothing more than a warning shot, but all he needed was room.
"I'm not a cute little pet anymore," he growled, clinking Whirr blade-by-blade back into a closed position. "I'm not going to let people keep treating me like a joke." A second Harmony began to take shape in the in front of him, yanking sound from the air at a prodigious rate. Sonic energy leaking from the rapidly forming sphere produced a high keening sound that shot cracks through the pillars of rock and crumbled a couple of the nearer ones into gravel.
"This is the real deal," he snarled, snapping off the incoming flow of sound and snatching Harmony up in his hand.
"Hold on, Kapu. I'm coming!"
Oh, please, Lord. Aleu too? Kapu spun, and upon seeing her worried face, felt himself crumple inside. Never, never, never would he get to prove himself. Not even to his own, beloved sister. He'd always be in the shadow of someone else's wing, like a little lap dog to coddle and pet. No, no, no no no!
Kapu hurled Harmony angrily into the ground, not caring where it went. The little bomb exploded, more forcibly than before, expanding in a blazingly fast, ice blue disc that put a centimeter-wide furrow almost a kilometer straight down into the ground and sliced silently through trees and rocks in the forest.
But he wasn't watching anymore: Kapu no longer cared. He just wanted out. Out of here, out of the wall of sheltering wings, well-meaning but crushing. Whirr leapt into his hand, and with a powerful swing of the fan, a cloud of dust and dirt blew high into the air. In the midst of the spinning smokescreen, Kapu pulled Whirr close to himself, transformed themselves into a small bird, and took off.
Where are you going? Somewhere where I can think. Are you sure that's what you need to do? I don't know. But maybe I can figure it out then.
((Character development is fun ^^ And now I have a good excuse to keep myself out of the action while I do homework.))

A small grin played on Remede's face as she discovered that Ryuu took up the offer. She knew he would, seeing as how he had been poking at her to hire him. I didn't think he'd be this desperate though. Her head tilted to the side in brief amusement. A few seconds passed of Ryuu's frantic chase. From what she could tell, the psychic was having fun with this. Her eyes followed her newly-hired bodyguard to and fro, wondering how far this thief was going to take this. His performance at the bar was rather decent so she knew that Ryuu could take quite a bit of damage before giving out... that and he was still pretty desperate for money.
Now that I have both Ryuu and the thief busy... Remede pondered. I can a) leave them both. I'm sure that if Ryuu succeeds in getting the ruby ring, it's more than enough pay. Or b) I can find this psychic. The latter seemed much more entertaining, and even though she knew she couldn't risk staying in Meltokio for too long, the rash side of her personality kicked it. So she simply stood off to the side, scanning the crowd for any suspicious looking people.

His smile only grew as Terix realized he was dealing with a simpleton. "And if I am disinclined to acquiesce to your demands?" he asked, casting an appraisatory glance over the figure. He made a show of placing the ring in his right pocket, only to dematerialize it into his bag in secret.
"What, then?"

"Well, as much as I'd hate to do it," Ryuu said innocently, "I'd have to beat the hell outta you and turn you in to the castle knights. But, hey, you're young, and who knows what kinda circumstances you're goin' through. Tell ya' what," he said with a friendly grin, "how about if you give that ring back, I'll split the reward money in half with ya'? That alright?" Ryuu asked, grinning and putting his hands behind his head.

"Oh come now." The tone Terix took was almost condescending, as his gaze turned to mock-pity. "Do you truly think I'm in it for the money?" He held out a hand and watched it fill with gold coin, as a nearby merchant found himself penniless.
"I don't care about money," he sighed, sending the gold back to its earlier location (to the merchant's infinite relief). "I want the ring because... well... because I want the ring. I don't need any more reason than that."
"And as for your threat... let's just say I don't deem it much of one," he finished with a chuckle, lifting himself into the air and drawing startled gasps from the crowd around them both. "But you are free to try, if you think you can. I just hope you don't mind finding a new sword... and armor... or whatever it is you use for weaponry. What makes you think my skills work only on—"
...and Terix stopped dead in his tracks as he felt a wave of fear, then pain, crash through his brother.
Cyrus.
Eyes full of rage (and a tiny hint of fear) snapped back to the warrior before him. "Get lost" he spat, hurling a bolt of knockback-energy at him to slow him down. "I don't have time for you anymore." With that he turned his back on Ryuu, reality rippling around him as he prepared to fling himself into the air with desperate speed.
I won't lose anyone else... I'm coming, brother..!

"Ggh!" Ryuu grunted as the force hit him. "The hell?!" Is this that telekinesis thing Zaber told me about? That loopy mind-magic?! I thought it didn't exist!
The boy turned his back on Ryuu, and strange waves began to surround him. "I don't know what the hell you're doin'," Ryuu shouted, reaching out to grab the boy, "but I'm not lettin' you go unless you give me that damn ring!"
