Thanks for that little tip deviette, I use The Gimp, but the process is practically the same.

I never knew about how to use The Gimp correctly. But with this tutorial, I managed to actually make a small practice picture of Lloyd! Thanks, Deviette. I think I can start making better banner and avatar combinations now.

For quicker use, you can just use the 'Magic wand' tool, and select the background...then goto "Select" and "Feather" and type in your feathering, and then click 'Ok' and then press backspace/delete.

You don't get any result perfect.

Actually, you can if you do it with the pen tool. But the takes so long, and the lasso tool does almost exactally the same thing. So you are wrong.

What I meant is, you can't get any result perfect.
You might have been thinking for something better, but you never get it right, so you end up accepting what you have.

Depending upon background (like if it's a single color that's drastically different from what you're selecting) I use the magic wand, inverse the selection and then go around with the +/- free lasso to fix up any hard spots (like example, Zelo's hair... goodness is that annoying) then feather 1 or 2 pix (or like 20 for a ghosty like look) then paste it over wherever you're putting your picture... and like Dev said add blending mode! (they look so cool ^_^) Mind you ^--- that is what I do in PS version CS2 which is what program we used for in my class.... and you CAN get it right, it just takes effort ^_^
