When I first saw the commercial for this CD my first thought was; Oh great, here goes Now That's What I Call Music with another album. I couldn't blame myself at first, they seemed to be coming out with a whole lot of these things lately. They were already on volume number 25! But it wasn't what I expected to hear at all. I heard about the first few songs and thought that it sounded okay. I bought it, then fell in love with it.
Track One: Thnks fr th Mmrs-- Fall Out Boy
This song is one of those songs that all the girls out there just fall in love with. It's one of those songs that enchants you to go onto You Tube and watch it, then fawn over the bassist. I don't see what they find in him, but that's a different story. This song has good musical qualities, although it has some unclean references.
Replay Value: High
Content: Somewhat unclean
General Quality: Great!
Track Two: Girlfriend-- Avril Lavigne
Yet another alluring song. Seriously, we all have to admit we've voluntarily listened to this song at least once (maybe more if you're a person like me). It's a good song, one Avril Lavigne's top selling albums in fact. This version is the radio-edited edition, so it's clean! Yay!
Replay Value: High
Content: Clean
General Quality: Great!
Track Three: The Sweet Escape-- Gwen Stefani featuring Akon
This song is different from what you'd hear everyday. It has that hint of older music charm with that sense of modern music. Proving that older sounds can work with newer lyrics when done right. It has a catchy tune and can get stuck in your head for ages.
Replay Value: High
Content: Average
General Quality: Great!
Track Four: U + Ur Hand-- P!nk
This song is not at all what you'd expect to hear from P!nk (although it is good no doubt about that). After her song Stupid Girls, I thought I'd hear something meaningful coming from a song with her name. Apparently not this time, talking about bars and all that stuff. While content is generally not what I'd like, the tune is catchy and it's still a great song.
Replay Value: Moderate
Content: Somewhat unclean (no swearing)
General Quality: Good
Track Five: Glamorous-- Fergie featuring Ludacris
Yet another huge hit from The Duchess, otherwise known as Fergie. Her third biggest hit that was unsupported by the rest of the Black Eyed Peas. It's a good song, somewhat unclean content though. There is no swearing, because the edited version was placed on this collection of hits, but watch out, this song is highly addictive.
Replay Value: High
Content: Somewhat unclean
General Quality: Great!
Track 6: Beautiful Liar-- Beyonce and Shakira
Who doesn't like the smooth sound of R&B/Soul? This song is a breath of fresh air from some of the pop music that is inundating our radio stations. This attempt is great and I find with more hits like these, Beyonce and Shakira will be on their way to resurrecting the slowly fading music genre.
Replay Value: High
Content: Clean
General Quality: Great!
Track Seven: Summer Love-- Justin Timberlake
Where to begin.... I HATE THIS SONG!!!! I know it sounds harsh, but it really doesn't deserve to be on this CD. The beat is highly annoying, and Justin's attempt at mixing pop and rap really didn't work. The content is okay, not as clean as it could've been. Some parts I couldn't understand what was being said, all in all, it just sucks.
Replay Value: Low
Content: Somewhat unclean
General Quality: Poor
Track Eight: Because of You-- Ne-Yo
I was a bit skeptical of this song at first. I generally don't like what Ne-Yo releases, but this song is an exception. It's slower, but that's fine. Although I warn you, if you listen to this song too often you can grow to hate it.
Replay Value: Moderate
Content: Somewhat unclean
General Quality: Good
Track Nine: Buy You A Drank [Shawty Snappin'] T-Pain featuring Yung Joc
Woah! What the crap? This song is dirty beyond belief! The cautious better just leave this song alone. Despite it's content, it's like opening a bag of really good potato chips. After you eat one, you can't stop. This song is highly addictive, but content is questionable.
Replay Value: High
Content: Unclean
General Quality: Good
Track Ten: Get It Shawty-- Lloyd
Okay now, what's with the word "shawty" combined with songs with explicit content? Hasn't anyone noticed this? Generally, this is a good song, a bit repulsive at times, but still okay.
Replay Value: High
Content: Unclean
General Quality: Good
Track Eleven: Pop Lock & Drop It-- Huey
Arrgghhh..... I strongly dislike this song. Wait, hear something-? No, that's just the words "Pop, lock and drop it" resonating in my brain. I listened to this song the day I got the CD, I shut it off, then didn't touch that disc for a week. It was that bad.
Replay Value: Low
Content: Unclean
General Quality: Poor
Track Twelve: Like This-- Mims
No.... shut it off!!!! End the torture! Shut it off!!!!! And that's all I have to say about this song.
Replay Value: Low
Content: Moderate
General Quality: Poor
Track Thirteen: I Tried-- Bone Thugs-N-Harmony ft. Akon
Wait a minute, Akon is featured in two songs on this album, I didn't notice that until now... But anyways, I dislike this song. I'd listen to it if I HAD to, but I wouldn't of my own accord.
Replay Value: Low
Content: Moderate
General Quality: Poor
Track Fourteen: Outta My System-- Bow Wow ft. T-Pain & Johnta Austin
Uhhhhhhhh.......... WHAT WERE THEY THINKING WHEN THEY RECORDED THIS CRAP?!?!
Replay Value: Low
Content: Moderate
General Quality: Poor
Track Fifteen: Never Again-- Kelly Clarkson
Yay! Something worth listening to! This song has a small bit of bad content, but not all that bad. It's a breath of fresh air after all those horrible songs. Kelly Clarkson has come a long way from winning the first season of American Idol hasn't she? I wonder if she still thinks about From Justin to Kelly... Hehe.
Replay Value: High
Content: Somewhat unclean
General Quality: Great!
Track Sixteen: The Great Escape-- Boys Like Girls
Hmmm, that title seems familiar, maybe it was back in I dunno, track three? And Boys Like Girls, what kind of a band name is that? Well, all those things aside, I fell in love with this song, bad references and all...
Replay Value: High
Content: Somewhat Unclean
General Quality: Great!
Track Seventeen: I Told You So-- Keith Urban
Ummmm.... Do you want to hear me complain about how much this songs sucks, or should I just skip to the ratings-? I'll just get to the ratings.
Replay Value: Low
Content: Moderate
General Quality: Poor
Track Eighteen: Before He Cheats-- Carrie Underwood
Ooh! Another song from an Idol winner... Putting that aside, this song is pretty good. It has a catchy tune and I just love in the chorus how she tells how she trashed her ex's car...
Replay Value: High
Content: Somewhat unclean
General Quality: Great!
Track Nineteen: Wait For You-- Elliot Yamin
To tell you the truth, I've never heard of this guy until this album came out. I wish it would've stayed that way... Why did I have to stumble upon track nineteen?
Replay Value: Low
Content: Moderate
General Quality: Poor
Track Twenty: Home-- Daughtry
It seems like ever Now volume ends with a crappy song like this. Why do they do that, compile a bunch of good songs (not so much for this album) then end it with something that's so awful you want to cry? I have no further comment.
