The Tower of Cho`Arim
The history of the world of Cho`Arim goes back
thousands of years, to the time when the universe was
young and life had not began its course.
Created from the darkness was a lush world, covered in life from the moment of its beginning. Plant life and
animals alike thrived, and in time, five races of
creatures dominated the globe.
Races
The first to evolve were the Se (Pronounced "Seh" with
a short E, pricture
here, made by Kemono Inukai. A race of avian
humanoids, they hved the innate ability to harness
mana in what could be called "magic." They are
attunted especially well with wind and air magic,
though like all mana-wielders, they could cast any
spell with equal ease. The Se are a race of soft-
spoken people and made up of mostly pacifists. They take what
they need and live in harmony with the world. Their
weapons of choice when they partake in battle are
katanas, swords, rapiers or bows.
The second race to evolve were the Domabek ("Doh-ma-
bek."
Image here, credit Kemono Inukai again
). The domabek were the race of humanoid lizards
and dragons. The Dragon-like Domabek were grouped into
their own subcatagory, the Domabek-yong. The Domabek
are the rogues of the land; they live on the edge of
the law and plunder and steal what they will. As a
whole, however, the Domabek are a noble folk; think
Robin Hood. They are also attunded to mana, and are
most proficient with fire or dark magic, and pound out
a living through smithing and glasswork. They prefer
to fight using hammers or axes.
Coming into existence shortly after the Domabek were
the Ma'yojung ("Mah-yoh-jung.
Image here.). The Ma'yojung are the race
of the elves. Not exactly like the traditional elves,
though; the Ma'yojung live only to about 500-700 years
old, instead of the traditional immunity to age. The
Ma'yojung are attunded to light and healing magic, and
their culture is centered around the arts. They fight
with staves and bows.
The forth race to emerge were the humans, or in
archaic terms, the Ingan ("Een-gan"). The only race to
not have the ability to wield magic, the humans made
up for that with technology. They created machina with
terrible power, and they showed it off with pride.
Also the most multi-talented of the races, humans are
equally capable with all weapons in battle, in
addition to their own inventions, such as bombs and
guns. In one display of human might, the Ma'yojung
were about to attack a human town over a minor
squabble when they saw the humans unveiling a new
weapon, something they called a "bomb." The Ma'yojung
watched the display and returned to base camp when
they saw the "bomb" level a forest in under ten
seconds. The attack was called off.
The last race to evolve were the lupines, the Nuk'de
("Nuek-deh,"
Image here, credit to goldenwolfen.com
). The Nuk'de have another subgroup, the Yuho
("Yuh-oo"). The Yuho are identiful to the Nuk'de
except for appearance. While the Nuk'de are lupine,
the Yuho are vulpine, with an orange-red coloration
instead of gray, and a bushier, heavy tail. The two
live in harmony though, appearance makes no difference
to them. The Nuk'de are proficient with water and
earth magic, and fight using swords, lances and bows.
Over time, numerous towns sprang up over the land.
Some were ports, others were business locations or
rest stops. Each town generally had a population
mostly concieved of one race, normally the race of its
founder, though humans are found in plenty where ever
you go.
Six major cities were created in time, each dedicated
to a diety who was believed to control a certain power
or element.
Cities
The city of Kyong-Gi is located high in the Nonpun
("Nohn-poon") Mountain range, and is the ancestral
home of the Se. The shrine, the Temple of the
Everlasting Wind is dedicated Bahan, the god of wind.
The city of Boul ("Boohl") houses the Temple of the
Undying Flame, dedicated to Huayum, the god of fire.
Boul, along with Ahm'chon, is the home of the Domabek.
Ahm'chon is the city of darkness. The Temple of the
Hidden Shadow is dedicated to Keurimja, the goddess of
darkness.
Beh is the home of the elves, and the site of the
Shining Shrine of Divine Guidance. Biet is the city's
patron god.
Keumhe, the city of water. Home to the Nuk'de, it sits
on the edge of the Endless sea. The Temple of the
Thousand Falls is in honor of Pokpo, the whimsmical
goddess of the sea.
The last city is also the home of the Nuk'de, the city
of Jiiko. The Shrine of the Mother Gaia is in the
heart of the city, dedicated to Bihokhan, the goddess
of the earth.
Juyohan is the capital city, and where all races
mingle in equal number.
Then, three thousand years ago, everything changed. At
first, it was unnoticable. The sky was a little bit
dimmer, and the sun went down a little bit earlier.
Then came the winter solstice, the longest day of the
year. The people all had their usual celebrations and
waited together for the sun to come up.
It didn't. They waited for hours on end, hoping,
praying that the sun would come to restore light to
their world. It never came.
The land was plunged into eternal night for fifteen
years, when a young boy, his name lost to the ages,
journeyed to find the cause of the everending
blackness.
He found his cause, but paid a terrible price. He
wrote a note and clasped it in his hands as the Dark
Lord, whose curse had darkened Cho`Arrim, tore his
body to pieces and flung them to the ends of the
world. His last hope would be that somebody would find
the note and vanquish the Lord of Darkness.
His wish would not be fufilled for fifty long years.
Fifty long years, where food become almost non-
existant, and people were forced to eat others,
sometimes of their own kin, just to survive.
It was then that a teenage girl on a romp in the snow
with her friends found a bloodstained piece of
parchment, buried under half a century's worth of
snow.
((Maybe another rp later on?))
She and her friends left a message to their parents
and journeyed around the world and through terrible
hardships for over a year. One of their number died
along the way. Broken and battered, they found an inn
to spend the night that marked exactly two years after
they had begun their quest.
Morale was low that night, and the leader of the group
was at a loss for what to do. She couldn't turn back,
not after two years, not after one of her friends had
given their life for her own. But they would all die
if they went on much longer.
Her question was answered that night. The Dark Lord
had seen them searching for him, had sent his agents
to kill them, but none prevailed. Growing irritated at
the lack of results, decided to take matters into his
own hands. He attacked the village that night, slaying
one of their number before they awoke. The rest of the
party confronted the Dark Lord outside in the streets.
It was no competition.
The entire party was wiped out. All of them died. But
the girl, as she lay dead and her spirit rose to the
gods, one of them spoke to her.
Thou who hast given thy life for the world; thou
shalt be reborn with the wings of an angel, and thou
shalt smite the darkness and restore peace to thy
world.
The girl awoke to find the Dark Lord leaving,
believing all opossition dead and his power secure.
The girl and her friends arose again, reborn as
angels, and defeated the Lord of Darkness.
Then they were at a loss. What now? For in all
reality, they were still no older than twenty or so.
It was then a sage, hunched by age, came to them with
words of advise.
He told them of a spell that would seal the Lord of
Darkness within a tower of white marble, protected by
seven layers of enchantments. Each enchantment would
be symbolized by a sphere of mana, and each sphere
could be housed in each of the six temples of the
elements. The last sphere would be placed at the top
of the Tower of Imprisonment. They would all be
guarded by each town's elite soldiers. The spheres of
each town would be linked magically to every member of
the race that ruled the town the sphere was located
in. If the sphere was destroyed, each and every member
of the race would be afflicted with excruiciating
pain, and a sudden desire to gather at the site where
the sphere was placed.
The party agreed tp the idea. It seemed perfect. No
one noticed the red gleam in his eyes as they walked
away to implement the spell.
Two thousand years have passed. It is the day of the
summer solstice celebration, and people from all over
the world have poured into Juyohan for the party.
-----------------------------------------------------
This is where the story begins. You are in the city of
Juyohan for the celebration. Aleu and Kapu are also
wandering the city (you can know them already or not,
but you're going to have to meet them sooner or later.
Bwuahaha. XD).
Note : They're not brother and sister in this rp. Kapu
is a Nuk'de and Aleu is Se. They are best
friends though.
