Ari gives him a funny look. "Well... Zaunithe did seem slightly familiar. But it rings no bells. I don't recall spending time with him before, or even seeing him." She pauses. "Why all these questions?"

Odd... but not entirely unsurprising... after all, he chuckles softly, if we could understand Fate, why bother living? Out loud he simply replies, "No reason. He seemed to remember you, is all."

"Really?" Ari looked at Terix, shrugging her shoulders. "He must have mistaken me for someone else... I've never met him before in my life." She glanced at Kara, the pup, who seemed to be cheerful enough. "Kara, do you know how much further the berry patch is?" Without waiting for a reply, an idea crossed her mind. "Terix, where is your brother? He was with us just a few moments ago."

"Cyrus is in the cave tunnels... he said he wanted to make his cave-room ready or something. Why do you ask?"

"Just curious why he didn't want to come with us. He seems to be a bit distant after we found that chest. I guess you could say I'm a bit worried..."

"I don't think it has anything to do with the chest, Ari..." Terix says softly. "...if you want any more information, I request that you ask him yourself. I'm not going to betray his trust." They reach the berry patch shortly thereafter.
"Kara and I can pick berries fine with or without you," he tells her as he borrows a basket from Kara. "The only way Cy is going to pull out of his funk is if someone helps him do it... and at the moment I can't think of anyone else who can, except perhaps you. Go... you two need this resolved," he finishes cryptically as he turns to the berry bushes.

"Wha-" Ari cut herself off. Maybe he's right... Cyrus has always been there for me... I have to do the same for him. She glanced one last time at Terix, nodding in thanks and dashed off, following the path they had just taken. I wonder what's wrong...
The half-elf made her way to the caves without any trouble. Searching through the winding tunnels, she called softly, "Cyrus? Where are you?"

"...Ari?" Cyrus' voice echoes from the third cave on the left. "I'm in here..." She enters to find him seated on his bed, a book on the floor nearby.
"Can I help you with something?" he asks. "Are you okay? You sounded worried..."

"I..." Ari didn't know how to start. What am I supposed to say? You're scaring the hell out of me, Cyrus! Tell me what's wrong! No. What about, Cyrus, you're acting really weird... what's wrong with you? No. She mentally sighed, thinking of some other way to put it. Ari sat down next to the rogue, avoiding eye contact. "Cyrus... something's wrong... you've been so distant lately. And I know you're not normally like this..."

"Distant... yeah, I guess you can call it that..." he replies. I'd use "crushed," but I guess you have more tact than I, he muses darkly before responding. "Is that what you're worried over?"

Ari tucked a few strands of hair behind her pointy ears. Finally, after a moment of silence, she turned to Cyrus. "If I say yes, will you tell me what's wrong?"

"...I... I'm not sure I can," he replies softly. "...I'm afraid to... if I do, then what I'm worried about... I might make it come true..."

Ari looked at Cyrus sympathetically, wondering what she could do or say to make him change his mind. After taking a moment to think, she gently placed her hand over Cyrus' left one. "Please? I want to know..."

"...I..." Ari, why do you have to put me in these hard situations? If I do tell you, it— it might, but now if I don't... it'll hurt you... why..? Reeeeh...
...I guess I have to risk it. I'll definitely hurt you if I don't tell you, but if I do... it's only a chance... He sighs and turns his face upwards towards hers.
"...Ari..." he begins, unsure how to phrase this. "...what do you know about that guy, Zaunithe?"
