The dead threads are there for no reason. We have no need to locked them or toss them. We most likely will go through a clean site soon.

I'm not sure... put a poll attachment to the top of each thread. If there are votes to save it, then throw it in public archives; if there's a majority of votes to kill it / no votes at all, then trash it. Don't throw out everything; like Ari said, some of it has sentimental value.
